About the Professor:
John Burkoff is Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh, where he has taught since 1976. He is a Michigan (A.B. & J.D.) and Harvard (LL.M) graduate, and has published forty-five books on criminal law and procedure subjects. Burkoff has been awarded the Chancellor's Distinguished Public Service Award and the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award by the University of Pittsburgh, and has been voted Teacher of the Year by Pitt Law's 3L students. He has lectured at many law schools in the U.S. and abroad (Istanbul; Pamplona, Spain; Ghent, Belgium; Reykjavik, Iceland; Nairobi and Eldoret, Kenya; Bujumbura, Burundi), and has also taught U.S. judges at the National Judicial College, and Eastern European police chiefs at the National Police Academy in Tirana, Albania.
